Minnesotans are reacting to the nonsense they see at the state level of government. They want common sense restored with regards to confronting crime, educating our children, and limiting the growth of government. They don't want to see thousand-page laws passed in the final minutes of a legislative session, especially when legislators aren't given the opportunity to read or comprehend them before voting. I will not be a rubber stamp for policies that will make Minnesota another California.
America First does not mean America only. It simply means our country's lawmakers and policymakers should always act in the best interest of our country - first. That isn't happening right now. The country is on a path to financial ruin and that is not in our interest. It is understandable why so many throughout the world want to come to America, we have a great country. But the country cannot afford to take in all who want to come here. It is of the utmost importance that our lawmakers quickly restore order at our borders and enforce the immigration laws that have been passed. At the state level we need to know what the federal government has done, and is doing, with regards to settling migrants who have entered the country illegally in our communities.
Parents need to know, and they have a right to know, what schools are teaching their children. Too often parents are being deliberately kept in the dark about what their children are being taught.
Thankfully, Plymouth is blessed with wonderful public schools. Wayzata High School student achievement scores rank at the top in the state in math and reading. Unfortunately, for too many public school districts across the state, many are struggling with some districts finding they have no students proficient in math and only half their students proficient at grade level in reading. That's unacceptable. I'm committed to ensuring public schools statewide return their focus to education and away from social engineering.
We must stop scaring our children about our changing climate. The planet isn't going anywhere and its climates have been changing since its creation. CO2 is not a pollutant, it's plant food.
